Welcome to Filming Locations Detectives website! This website is dedicated to the many cult independents and blockbuster films I have enjoyed and still enjoy watching. As a big film enthusiast, it never fails to elate me to identify and physically visit the hallowed grounds of various locations used in my favourite films. With this in mind, I would like to share this website to all like-minded individuals who enjoy identifying and visiting filming locations worldwide.

Identifying and visiting filming locations is more than just a hobby. In a way, it has become a guiding object to my otherwise mundane existence. Treating it like a project, it exercises the mind and quickens the reflexes. I have a keen eye for details; a good memory; a love for travel; a thirst for adventure; hunger for keeping busy; and I enjoy studying and researching. Pilgrims go to Jerusalem or Mecca; I go to some of the most dangerous neighbourhoods in the world just to get that shot of a building used in a film for 3 seconds.

In my opinion the biggest star isn’t always Bruce Willis, Jackie Chan or Christopher Lee, it’s the filming location itself, the rolling landscape, the cobble streets, rundown buildings, abandoned train tracks. Sometimes you can miss so much dialog because the power of the setting. Filming scouts and the location managers should be at the top of the credits for without appropriate locations the films aren’t effective.

To stand in the exact spot where a movie scene was shot and act out that particular scene is fun and entertaining. It gets me out of the house, away from my remote control and enables me to go away for a short break (my excuse to get away from work). I still remember the very first movie location I ever visited in Tataouine, Tunisia which was used for Star Wars back in the 80's when I was a little lad holidaying with my parents and sister. Even then, I can recall my imagination running wild and I felt like I was in the film. Crazy it may seem now, but that’s where and how this fascination for films and filming locations first started.
