Welcome to Filming Locations Detectives website! This website is dedicated to one of my favourite hobbies – finding the filming locations used in films. As a big film enthusiast, it never fails to elate me to identify and physically visit both the far-flung and well trodden shooting locations used in my favourite films. With this in mind, I created this website to share to all like-minded individuals worldwide who have passion for films and its filming locations.

This hobby incorporates all my interests: watching movies (can’t beat being a couch potato on a rainy afternoon); exercising the mind with research (an ample lot is involved in getting the right information); travel (sea, land or air - I always like a good seat and certainly be first on the queue); thirst for adventure ( Oh yes, I do have itchy feet) and photography (I pride myself to have keen eyes for details and could spend hours at one place just to get a good shot with the right lighting...to my wife’s frustration I might add!) Pilgrims go to Jerusalem or Mecca; I visit rundown old buildings, stately homes, sleepy towns, bustling cities, beautiful countryside and literally any place used in a 3 second frame.

In my opinion the biggest star isn’t always Bruce Willis, Jackie Chan or Cesar Montano, it’s the filming location itself - the rolling landscape, the cobble streets, rundown buildings, abandoned train tracks. One can easily miss so much dialogue because of the powerful setting. Filming scouts and the location managers should be at the top of the credits for without appropriate locations, films could never be as effective.

I still remember the very first movie location I ever visited in Tataouine, Tunisia which was used for Star Wars back in the 80's when I was a little kid. Even then, I can recall my imagination running wild and I felt like I was in the film. Crazy it may seem now, but that’s where and how this fascination for films and filming locations first started.
