We think these scenes were shot near to Kanchanaburi in Thailand as the River Kwai was used in the filming, also the Location Manager knew certain people in the Thai Army and they had a base near Kanchanaburi, which we can clarrify as we had stopped in a hotel near to the base.

Do you recognise this area? or did you work on the film, we would like to know. If you would like to submit a photo or have any information, please contact us along with the still number and film name (located if you place your mouse pointer over the image). We will give you full credit for your information and photographs submitted, thanks. Click here to go to the contact form

We think this was shot in Bangkok Thailand, however according to imdb these scenes where located on Throng Watt road, we toured around Bangkok and none of the drivers we spoke to had heard this road.

We recently had an e-mail from Tony Douglas, who owned the Mississippi Queen Bar in 1973 and operated it when The Deer Hunter was filmed. Tony went on to say "I met DeNiro and Cimonino and assisted Frank Ernst with locations and my bar. Most of the scenes were fimed in the alley behind my bar and the Soi that I lived on. It runs pararel to Suriwongse Road only one kilometre from the bar. I am not sure that the roulette scene was in the area, but I suspect so." Thanks Tony for your help"
