(Please note this is private property, they ask for other fans not to jump over the fence, if caught you will be fined and jailed). It was a limestone mine active from 1870 till the 1940s. Then it was adapted and used for storage since that time.</p> <p>When we visited we took photographs outside the entrance, however for some reason these photographs did not turn out. When we first entered with the car, I was so surprised how light and warm it was, with staff members using golf carts to run around in. We had a good look around and decided to chance our luck by going to the office and asking for a tour of the offices and the canteen facilities. The lady remembered the film had been shot in the mine and no one was available to show us around. I have read it's a missile Silo located on one of the Nike Missile bases in the area. It's not what I call the best beach but the scenery is out of this world. The beach scene is about 2 miles away from the crop sprayer's compound is located, so I presume George Romero used the helicopter from the compound to do this shot.
