The Babylon Club

Exterior

(Click on the (1983) film grabs for a better & larger image)

Sandra Wyatt from Coral Springs,Florida, contacted us to say 'the exterior shots at the 'Babylon Club' were filmed at 'The kapok tree inn' in Davie Fl (outside of ft lauderdale) i was a superviser there, and was there during the filming. I'm positive. Thanks Sandra for the information.

With Sandra information we researched on the internet and found this website (click here to visit Kapok Tree Restaurant) and e-mailed Ben (KapokGuy) Mancine (the owner of the site.) "Roly, Hello and thanks for writing. What fascinating information! Yes I can corroborate that the stills you reference (above) unmistakably show the Kapok Tree Inn (restaurant) at Ft. Lauderdale (Davie). Please see my Kapok Tree website "Donors" page at http://kapoktree.benzplace.com/donors.html The second-to-last donation listed shows three vintage photos from the Ft. Lauderdale Kapok Tree Inn. The one on the right is the best and clearly shows a view of the restaurant that matches the Babylon Club view in Scarface (click photo to enlarge). The official postcards of the Ft. Lauderdale Kapok Tree do not provide as good a view, but still show the series of tall statues across one side. I don't have any specific information about the Kapok Tree Inn's Babylon Room, but will forward if I come across more info. Thanks for contacting me! Regards, Ben (KapokGuy) Mancine.' Thanks Ben.

The building is owned by Kapok Special Events, is located 923 N. McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater, FL 33759. Visit Kapok Special Events website

The Babylon Club

Interior

(Click on the (1983) film grabs for a better & larger image)

Thanks to Mike over at Movie Shot's LA who was kind enough to tell me that the Babylon Club was a soundstage 25 at Universal Studios, Hollywood.

We had conflicting reports to say the Babylon club was 'The Forge' resturant in Miami Beach, Florida. Thanks to Scott Schildgen from Fort Lauderdale, FL, who contacted us to say 'Just wanted to say that I have been to 'The Forge' restaurant in Miami Beach several times, and this is not it.' Thanks Scott for the information.

Do you recognise where this scene was shot? Did you work on the production? If so please contact us and help us to update the website. As we have sleuthed many locations, please don't forget to include the film grab number and film name (located if you place your mouse pointer over the image.)
