Before we Begin

We are at present gathering together the filming locations of Nora Ephron - You've Got Mail, staring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. The actual filming took place in 1988 and below are the screen grabs from the film. Eventually, this will show a direct visual comparison of how the filming locations have changed over time (once we have found where the filming took place.)

We understand that some places and buildings might be totally unrecognisable due to massive development and area progress while some have gone the opposite direction towards deterioration and decay. That is the beauty of this amazing hobby; the use of visual imagination and a lot of research. If you know where the filming took place for this film, please use the contact form to get in touch. However, it was filmed on 93rd at Riverside on the north side of the street. When he leaves his apartment, he is walking from the Riverside direction toward West End. Starbucks

"The whole purpose of places like Starbucks is for people with no decision-making ability whatsoever to make six decisions just to buy one cup of coffee. Short, tall, light, dark, caf, decaf, low-fat, non-fat, etc. So people who don't know what the hell they're doing or who on earth they are, can, for only $2.95, get not just a cup of coffee but an absolutely defining sense of self: Tall! Decaf! Cappuccino!"

Tidbits

Verdi Square was built in 1887 and named after Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi in 1921 Which consists of a fenced off area containing bushes, trees, and a statue of its namesake surrounded by four of the characters from his operas. The fence is girded by benches which served as a gathering place for musicians like Caruso and Toscanini at the beginning of this century, while more recently the periphery has been an on and off haven for petty drug dealers.
